Males and females very minute, moth like, simulating Microlepidoptera, however no shiny scales. Total length of the insects with wings no longer than 5 mm. Body and wings always strongly hairy. Fore wings set with erect hairs, partly thickened  bulbously. Wing margins lined with long hairs (*), particularly the hind wings; wings of most species acutely pointed.  Antennae with firm, plump segments, shorter than fore wings.
